HVAC Technician (Facilities Department)
Location:
Worcester, MA Pay:
Up to $35.97/hour + Full Benefits Position Overview A leading private college in Worcester, MA is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join its Facilities Department. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collegiate environment, supporting a dynamic campus community of students, faculty, and staff. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys a stable, team-oriented setting while maintaining a diverse portfolio of campus buildings, including academic facilities, laboratories, and residential spaces. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems across campus facilities Perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective repairs Monitor building automation systems and ensure optimal equipment performance Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner Maintain compliance with all safety standards, environmental regulations, and university policies Assist with equipment upgrades, retrofits, and energy efficiency initiatives Keep accurate maintenance records and complete work orders through internal systems Collaborate with other facilities team members on campus-wide projects Required Qualifications EPA 608 Universal Certification (Required) Minimum 3 years of hands-on HVAC field experience Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and troubleshooting techniques Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Solid understanding of safety protocols and industry best practices Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience working in institutional, healthcare, or campus environments Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) HVAC or mechanical trade school certification Skills & Competencies Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills Excellent time management and organizational abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Commitment to high-quality workmanship and customer service Work Environment & Benefits Stable, full-time position in a college campus setting Opportunity to work on a wide range of systems in academic, residential, and research facilities Collaborative facilities team culture Comprehensive benefits package , including: Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan contributions Paid time off and holidays Tuition assistance / educational benefits Long-term career stability Why Join Us?
