Responsibilities Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, furnaces, boilers, and refrigeration equipment in residential settings. Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans to execute installations accurately. Troubleshoot equipment issues using electrical diagnostics tools like ohmmeters and identify repair needs for HVAC/R systems. Perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Repair and replace components such as compressors, fans, thermostats, electrical wiring, and plumbing connections. Conduct system testing and calibration to verify proper operation according to manufacturer specifications and building codes. Provide excellent customer service by explaining system features, answering questions, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the installation process. Experience Proven construction experience with hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems installation and repair. Service technician experience working with HVAC systems, refrigeration units, or related mechanical equipment. Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical systems diagnostics, and building automation systems. Skills in plumbing, welding, electrical troubleshooting, and equipment repair are highly desirable. Knowledge of refrigerants such as ammonia refrigeration or standard refrigerants used in air conditioning units. Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols including EPA certification requirements for handling refrigerants. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to ensure positive client interactions.
