Occupational Programs Description Kirtland Community College is accepting applications for qualified part-time instructors to teach HVACR courses. Course assignments will be based on the applicant's qualifications, areas of expertise, and program needs. Teaching assignments typically consist of one course per semester; however, additional teaching opportunities may be available based on program needs and instructor availability. Courses are typically offered face-to-face Monday through Thursday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. at the Gaylord location. Duties The individual in this position must be able to communicate effectively with students, college personnel, and outside agencies utilizing both interpersonal and technical methodologies. Prepare for and instruct assigned courses through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals. To support student learning by meeting college requirements in assessing student learning. Establish and maintain a professional environment conducive to student learning. Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluation, written examinations, and overall observation. Provide students with feedback on progress on a timely basis. Actively support student success through guidance, advising, and assisting individual students as needed. Participate in professional activities including, but not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision, and other professional planning activities. Participate in Student End of Course Evaluation process. Submission of grades according to college timelines. Attend meetings as specified by contract. Perform other duties as assigned.
Possible Teaching Assignments May Include:
Fundamentals of Heating Systems Fundamentals of Refrigeration Systems EPA Refrigerant Certification Residential Refrigeration and AC Systems Hydronics HVAC Systems and Design HVAC Servicing and Troubleshooting Commercial HVACR Systems I Commercial HVACR Systems II HVAC Control Systems Qualifications Associate degree in HVACR Technology or a related field, and/or significant professional experience directly related to the assigned course content. Related industry-recognized certifications or credentials. Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or apprenticeship experience is preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to safely operate, troubleshoot, and instruct using HVACR laboratory equipment, tools, and instrumentation. Computer skills, including the use of the internet, Microsoft Office products, email, etc.
