Overview Join our dynamic team as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Helper! In this energetic role, you will assist skilled technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems across various commercial and residential properties. Responsibilities Assist with the installation of HVAC equipment, including ductwork, ventilation systems, and air conditioning units, following schematics and HVAC design plans. Support service technicians in diagnosing electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshooting equipment problems related to refrigeration, boilers, and mechanical systems. Help perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation and energy efficiency. Aid in repairing HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems by replacing faulty components and performing mechanical repairs. Carry out electrical diagnostics and assist with electrical system repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation of HVAC equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work environment by handling hand tools, plumbing supplies, and mechanical parts properly. Support field service activities by preparing job sites, transporting equipment via company vehicle (van driver role), and assisting with building automation systems integration when needed. Skills Construction experience combined with a strong understanding of mechanical systems repair and building maintenance. Service technician experience with HVAC system repair, installation, and maintenance procedures. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans accurately. Knowledge of refrigeration systems, ammonia refrigeration (nice-to-have), boilers, and appliance repair techniques. Familiarity with electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters and multimeters; understanding electrical systems within HVAC/R applications. Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC system components such as compressors, fans, motors, valves, and thermostats. Proficiency with hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers; experience with equipment troubleshooting is essential. Understanding of building automation systems (BAS) for controlling HVAC operations efficiently. Customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about system issues or maintenance needs. Valid EPA certification (or willingness to obtain) for handling refrigerants safely; knowledge of HVAC/R regulations is advantageous.
