Job Description

Job Summary:
Installs and maintains air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Overhauls and repairs equipment; inspects equipment periodically to detect and repair leaks and other faults. Ability to independently troubleshoot HVAC equipment, determine parts required, and repair. Receives and acts upon routine and preventative maintenance work orders. Performs related duties as required. Must have a willingness to work for the best interest of the hospital and with due consideration for patients. Must be able to work under emergency conditions and difficult situations. Performs other duties as required. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Performance Expectations Demonstrates the ability to analyze and resolve basic to advanced HVAC system issues utilizing the tools of the trade (i.e., using refrigerant gauges to accurately diagnose a unit problem). Demonstrates the ability to use the building automation system to diagnose air conditioning systems issues to determine the source of a reported failure.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
High school diploma or GED required. Factory training preferred.
Work Experience:
At least three years of refrigeration-AC mechanic experience preferred. Knowledge of equipment functions and uses, along with previous experience in repairing such equipment, is preferred. Certification/Licensure - DUE

Valid Driver's License Maintain a good driving record
Mental Demands:
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; read manufacturer literature and schematics and be able to troubleshoot, cooperate with others, demonstrate initiative. Ability to react to, yet remain calm in, emergency situations.
