Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team and ensure the optimal performance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems across our facilities. You will also be responsible for performing other maintenance related tasks at the Fondren Hill Apartments. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing a variety of HVAC and related mechanical systems to promote a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment. Your expertise will help keep building systems running smoothly while delivering exceptional service to clients and team members alike. Duties Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment (including ammonia refrigeration), and building automation systems. Diagnose electrical issues using tools such as ohmmeters and conduct electrical diagnostics to identify faults in electrical systems associated with HVAC equipment Repair or replace mechanical components such as pumps, fans, motors, valves, thermostats, and other HVAC equipment using hand tools and specialized repair techniques. Install new HVAC systems including ductwork, piping (plumbing), refrigerant lines, and electrical wiring in compliance with safety standards and building codes. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and system performance data for ongoing property maintenance needs. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system issues, repair timelines, and maintenance recommendations while ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Requirements Proven experience as an HVAC service technician with construction experience preferred; familiarity with HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems essential. Strong mechanical knowledge including HVAC system repair, installation skills, refrigeration techniques (including ammonia refrigeration), boiler operation, and building automation systems. Hands-on experience with plumbing work related to HVAC systems; familiarity with electrical systems involved in HVAC/R is necessary. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; driver's license with a clean driving record is required for field service assignments. Knowledge of equipment troubleshooting methods along with the ability to repair appliances and mechanical systems efficiently. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service orientation with clear communication skills; commitment to safety standards at all times.
