Position Overview RTH Mechanical is seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Field Service Technician to join our growing service team. The technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning residential, commercial and industrial HVAC systems. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, customer-focused, capable of working independently, and comfortable traveling throughout an assigned regional service territory. This is primarily an HVAC service position, and a plumbing license is not required. However, as RTH continues to expand its plumbing service capabilities, candidates who also hold a current plumbing license and have hands-on commercial plumbing service experience will receive preferred consideration. Candidates with demonstrated experience and qualifications in both HVAC and plumbing service will receive priority consideration in the hiring process. This position will also play an important role in RTH's continued service expansion. We are working to build overlapping technician coverage throughout our current markets so that customers receive reliable response times and technicians have nearby support for emergency calls, vacations, training, and workload fluctuations. Service Territory and Candidate Location RTH's current commercial service activity is concentrated in:

• Dover and the New Hampshire Seacoast
• Southern Maine and York County
• The Manchester-Concord corridor
• Southern Rockingham County and southern New Hampshire
• Selected areas of northeastern Massachusetts These are not intended to be rigid, single-technician territories.

RTH is developing a coverage model in which technicians can support neighboring areas and provide backup to one another. Because this is a regional field position, the successful candidate's home location will be considered as part of the hiring and territory-planning process. RTH is interested in candidates whose location will either:

• Strengthen overlapping coverage within an existing service area; or
• Support logical expansion into an adjacent market where RTH can develop additional commercial service business. Applicants do not need to live near the Dover office, provided their location fits RTH's current or planned service coverage and they are able to respond effectively throughout their assigned territory. Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, split systems, VRF systems, exhaust systems, pumps, and related mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, control, and mechanical-system problems.
• For technicians who possess the appropriate plumbing license, qualifications, and service experience; perform commercial and industrial plumbing service and repairs, including water-line and drain-line repairs, water-heater replacement, backflow-preventer service and repair, and other related plumbing work within the technician's licensing and qualifications.
• Respond to scheduled service calls, equipment failures, and emergency-service requests.
• Inspect equipment and identify developing problems before a system failure occurs.
• Perform equipment start-ups, testing, commissioning, and operational verification.
• Repair or replace motors, compressors, belts, bearings, controls, sensors, contactors, valves, filters, actuators, and other HVAC components.
• Clearly explain equipment conditions, recommended repairs, and replacement opportunities to customers and service management.
• Complete work orders, service reports, equipment records, time entries, material documentation, and supporting photographs accurately and promptly.
• Coordinate with the Service Manager and service office regarding scheduling, job status, parts requirements, follow-up work, and customer concerns.
• Assist technicians in neighboring coverage areas when necessary and participate in RTH's regional backup-coverage model.
• Maintain the assigned company vehicle, tools, diagnostic equipment, and stocked materials in a clean, safe, and professional condition.
• Participate in the department's rotating on-call schedule for after-hours and emergency-service needs.
• Build positive, long-term relationships with customers while representing RTH professionally at every jobsite. Safety Responsibilities
• Follow all RTH safety policies, OSHA requirements, customer safety procedures, and applicable industry standards.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment and maintain safety equipment in serviceable condition.
• Identify and communicate hazards before beginning work and take appropriate corrective action.
• Follow required lockout/tagout, electrical-safety, fall-protection, confined-space, ladder, and refrigerant-handling procedures.
• Stop work and notify management when an unsafe condition cannot be immediately corrected.
• Report injuries, incidents, equipment damage, and near misses promptly.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and protect customer property throughout each assignment. Qualifications and Experience
• High school diploma or GED required.
• HVAC trade-school training, completion of a recognized apprenticeship, or equivalent field experience preferred.
• At least three years of commercial HVAC service experience preferred.
• EPA Section 608 Certification required.
• A plumbing license is not required for this HVAC service position.
• A current New Hampshire plumbing license and commercial plumbing service experience are strongly preferred.
• Candidates with demonstrated service experience in both HVAC and plumbing will receive priority consideration.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, electrical troubleshooting, hydronic systems, and controls.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment independently and manage multiple service assignments.
• Ability to work safely on rooftops, ladders, in mechanical rooms, outdoors, and in other commercial or industrial environments.
• Strong communication, documentation, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to use mobile field-service applications and electronically complete work orders and service documentation.
• Experience with building automation systems and direct digital controls is a plus.
• New Hampshire gas licensing or related trade certifications are a plus.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned service region and participate in an on-call rotation.

Local 131 Union Status This position is intended to be filled as a Local 131 Pipefitter position. Current Local 131 members are encouraged to apply. Working Conditions This is a field-based position involving regular travel to commercial and industrial customer locations. Work may include exposure to varying weather conditions, operating mechanical equipment, rooftops, mechanical rooms, electrical equipment, refrigerants, and confined spaces. Work hours may occasionally include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of the department's scheduled on-call and emergency-service rotation.
