If you're motivated by solving problems, delivering exceptional service, and ensuring healthcare never skips a beat, this opportunity offers the purpose, challenge, and career you're looking for. As an HVAC Mechanic, a typical day might include the following: Maintaining and repairing air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment, including split A/C systems, rooftop units, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, ice machines, and electronic controls. Performing preventative maintenance and routine inspections to ensure building systems remain safe, operational, and compliant. Responding to scheduled maintenance requests, emergency repairs, and on-call service needs throughout the Medical Center. Troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, air compressors, valves, and other plant equipment. Assisting electricians with troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of new electrical services. Repairing plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets, drain lines, and related building systems. Installing and repairing doors, locks, windows, screens, and performing general carpentry, painting, and plaster work. Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing non-clinical hospital equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Collaborating with Engineering leadership, supervisors, and fellow mechanics to complete projects safely and efficiently. Delivering timely, reliable building services that support patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Remaining flexible to respond to routine and emergency service calls, including overtime as needed. The HVAC Mechanic role might be for you if: You enjoy solving mechanical and technical challenges using your trade expertise. You take pride in preventative maintenance and delivering quality workmanship. You stay calm under pressure and respond quickly to changing priorities. You enjoy working independently while collaborating with a skilled facilities team. You are committed to providing exceptional service and understand how your work contributes to patient safety and comfort. You value continuous learning and maintaining expertise across multiple building trades. You lead with integrity and are proud to represent the RWJBarnabas Health mission, vision, and values. To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and appropriate certifications or licenses related to the HVAC trade. You must also have a valid Jersey Driver License. Preferred qualifications include previous experience working in a healthcare, hospitality, or similar service-focused environment. At RWJBarnabas Health, you'll be more than an HVAC Mechanic-you'll be part of a mission-driven organization committed to creating safe, comfortable, and healing environments where exceptional patient care can thrive.
