Job Description

HVAC Field Operations Technician Job Summary Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced HVAC Field Operations Technician to perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on commercial HVAC systems across an assigned geographic territory. The technician will travel between customer locations using a company-provided van and tools. This position requires strong commercial HVAC experience along with the ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance. The technician will troubleshoot HVAC systems, complete repairs, perform inspections, communicate directly with customers, and participate in an on-call rotation . HVAC Field Operations Technician Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on commercial package and split-system HVAC equipment. Inspect and service belts, pulleys, compressors, fan motors, blower motors, condensate systems, burners, heat exchangers, and safety controls. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and HVAC system failures. Troubleshoot and repair compressors, condensing units, circuit boards, contactors, motors, and related components. Diagnose airflow and ducting issues. Perform repairs and maintenance on steam and hot-water boiler systems. Safely recover, handle, and charge refrigerants in accordance with EPA requirements. Perform brazing and refrigerant piping repairs as needed. Complete preventative and corrective maintenance work orders in accordance with company procedures and safety standards. Perform minor plumbing repairs, including drains, faucets, toilets, and leaks. Perform minor electrical maintenance within applicable state requirements. Perform basic carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance. Complete service and asset inspections. Accurately document completed work, service notes, and inspection results using tablets and smartphones. Submit service reports, quality inspection documentation, timesheets, and expense reports. Obtain necessary materials and supplies to complete assigned work. Provide professional customer service and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Provide estimates and recommendations for larger repairs or projects when appropriate. Participate in required safety training and weekly safety meetings. Participate in the company's on-call rotation and respond to after-hours service needs as required. Perform other duties as assigned. HVAC Field Operations Technician Qualifications High school diploma, HVAC certification/degree, or equivalent professional experience preferred. Minimum 5 years of HVAC/general maintenance experience, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Demonstrated experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC systems. Two-year HVAC technical certificate or applicable state-approved HVAC license preferred/required based on applicable requirements. EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification required. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to read and understand HVAC equipment information, work orders, and technical documentation. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls and priorities. Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation. Must be able to safely perform work in commercial customer facilities and comply with all applicable safety requirements.
Pay:
$33.00 - $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
