Plumbline is seeking experienced HVAC/R Service Technicians who diagnose accurately, communicate clearly, build customer trust, and take pride in quality work. This is not an entry-level position.
THE ROLE
Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC/R equipment. Troubleshoot electrical, airflow, refrigerant, ignition, drainage, thermostat, control, and mechanical problems. Service furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, package units, rooftop units, and refrigeration equipment appropriate to your skill level. Perform recovery, evacuation, leak detection, brazing, charging, superheat/subcooling, static pressure, temperature-split, and system-performance testing. Present clear repair, maintenance, and replacement options while providing honest recommendations based on safety, equipment condition, and customer needs. Complete accurate job notes, photos, model/serial records, invoices, warranty documentation, and final system testing. Participate in the on-call rotation and support less-experienced technicians based on your assigned level.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of HVAC/R field experience, including hands-on service and diagnostics. EPA Section 608 Universal Certification. Strong electrical, mechanical, airflow, and refrigerant diagnostic skills. Ability to read wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and manufacturer service information. Professional customer-service and communication skills. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to pass applicable pre-employment screening. Ability to safely lift, climb, kneel, crawl, and work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and outdoor conditions. Willingness to work on call and weekends as scheduled.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Residential, Commercial refrigeration or light commercial HVAC experience;
NATE, HVAC
Excellence, manufacturer, or specialty certifications; mentoring experience; and familiarity with digital field-service software. ServiceTitan experience is a plus, not required.
TECHNICIAN LEVELS LEVEL 3 HVAC/R SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Typically 3+ years of field experience. Independently completes most residential service calls; diagnoses common electrical, refrigerant, airflow, ignition, thermostat, drainage, and control issues; services furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, and basic light commercial equipment; performs recovery, evacuation, charging, brazing, leak detection, and system measurements; communicates findings clearly and recognizes when senior assistance is needed.
LEVEL 4 SENIOR HVAC/R TECHNICIAN
Typically 5+ years of progressively responsible service experience. Resolves difficult or intermittent problems; independently services advanced residential and light commercial HVAC/R systems, including rooftop and package units, economizers, walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines, and common refrigeration systems; diagnoses advanced controls and compressor-performance issues; assists with commissioning, callbacks, quality control, estimates, repair-versus-replacement decisions, and technician mentoring.
LEVEL 5 LEAD / MASTER TECHNICIAN
Typically 8+ years of advanced service experience. Handles the company's most complex HVAC and refrigeration calls; serves as the technical escalation resource; diagnoses advanced compressor, metering-device, oil-return, defrost, head-pressure, low-ambient, communicating-control, zoning, and VFD issues; leads start-ups, commissioning, retrofits, and major repairs; reviews workmanship and code concerns; trains technicians and supports technical procedures, warranty decisions, and callback reduction.
