Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician Northern Refrigeration Systems, Inc. Union Position - Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 42 Union Classification - Mechanical Equipment Serviceman Northern Refrigeration Systems is looking to add experienced Commercial Refrigeration Service Technicians to our commercial refrigeration and HVAC service team. Our technicians service, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a wide range of commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment throughout our service area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently in the field, and handling a variety of refrigeration and mechanical systems rather than working on the same equipment every day. Compensation & Union Benefits This position is represented by Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 42 . The standard workweek is based on five 8-hour workdays .

$36.52/hour

$53.08/hour Hours worked beyond 8 hours in a workday are paid at 1.5× the regular rate Saturday work is paid at 1.5× the regular rate Sunday work is paid at 2× the regular rate Holiday work is paid at 2× the regular rate Union Health and Welfare Benefits Union Retirement & Pension Benefits Equipment You May Work On Our service technicians work on a broad range of commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment, including: Rack refrigeration systems Parallel refrigeration racks Stand-alone refrigeration systems Self-contained refrigeration equipment Walk-in coolers and freezers Reach-in coolers and freezers Refrigerated display cases and merchandisers Ice machines Rooftop HVAC units Air handlers Heating and cooling equipment Controls and related electrical systems All makes and models of commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems Diagnose refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and controls-related problems Service rack systems, parallel racks, stand-alone systems, self-contained equipment, ice machines, and HVAC equipment Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections Check system pressures, temperatures, electrical components, controls, and refrigerant circuits Repair and replace compressors, motors, valves, controls, contactors, sensors, fans, and other refrigeration and HVAC components Recover, evacuate, charge, and troubleshoot refrigeration systems Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, and equipment manuals Accurately document service work, time, and materials Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment problems and repairs Work safely at customer facilities, including grocery stores, commercial buildings, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and equipment areas Participate in the company's on-call service rotation Qualifications Prior commercial refrigeration and/or commercial HVAC service experience is required Strong refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills Experience with commercial refrigeration systems strongly preferred Experience with supermarket refrigeration, rack systems, and parallel racks is a major plus Experience servicing ice machines and self-contained refrigeration equipment is preferred Ability to work independently and troubleshoot equipment in the field Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation EPA Section 608 certification required or ability to obtain Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, hand tools, and power tools Dependable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers On-Call Rotation Service technicians participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week per month .

Technicians receive:
