Position Summary The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of residential and commercial heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. This is a field-based, customer-facing role covering a defined service territory in Southeastern Ohio and West Virginia. The ideal candidate is technically strong, self-directed in the field, and committed to providing exceptional service on every call. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems including furnaces, heat pumps, central air conditioning, ductless mini-splits, and ventilation equipment. Service and repair commercial refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in refrigeration, ice machines, and rooftop commercial HVAC units. Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems under annual service contracts, documenting all work completed. Install new HVAC and refrigeration equipment at residential and commercial properties, including system startup, commissioning, and customer walkthrough. Respond to emergency service calls in a timely manner, including participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies. Accurately diagnose system issues and clearly communicate findings and repair options to customers in a professional manner. Complete all service documentation including work orders, parts used, time on site, and customer signatures using the company dispatch and invoicing platform. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service vehicle at all times. Follow all safety protocols including refrigerant handling procedures under EPA Section 608 requirements, electrical safety standards, and ladder and fall protection guidelines. Support generator installation and service work as needed, including Generac residential and commercial standby systems. Represent Twin Oaks Refrigeration professionally at all times — appearance, communication, and workmanship reflect the company's reputation in the community. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of field experience in HVAC installation and service. EPA Section 608 Universal Certification — required prior to or within 60 days of hire. Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing residential and commercial HVAC systems. Valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record — company vehicle provided. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and installation specifications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the role including lifting up to 75 lbs., working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and working in varying weather conditions. Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with the ability to manage a daily schedule of service calls independently. Strong customer communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly and build trust with commercial and residential clients. Preferred Qualifications NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification in one or more specialty areas. Experience with commercial refrigeration systems — walk-in coolers, reach-in refrigeration, ice machines. Familiarity with Carrier equipment and controls. Experience with Generac standby generator installation and service. Ohio HVAC Contractor License or progress toward licensure. Experience using field service or dispatch software for job documentation. Work Environment & Schedule This is a full-time field-based position. Technicians work independently in the field across the Twin Oaks service territory covering Athens, Meigs, Gallia, Morgan, and Washington counties in Ohio, and adjacent West Virginia communities. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating on-call availability for after-hours emergencies. The role involves working in residential homes, commercial properties, school facilities, restaurants, convenience stores, and other commercial environments. Technicians are expected to represent Twin Oaks professionally in all customer interactions.
