We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician - Refrigerant Systems & Controls for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting critical facility operations in Toledo, Ohio. We are presenting a role where hands-on HVAC expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and a focus on safe, reliable performance are essential to keeping building systems running efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Service, troubleshoot, and repair refrigerant-based HVAC equipment, including chillers, DX units, heat pumps, rooftop units, and VRF/VRV systems. Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection, brazing, and compressor repairs in line with EPA and safety requirements. Diagnose electrical components, low-voltage controls, sensors, and automation devices, while verifying system performance through diagnostic testing. Support preventive maintenance, documentation, startups, commissioning activities, and other facility repair work as needed.
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal). 3-5 years of hands-on experience servicing refrigerant-based HVAC systems. Experience troubleshooting compressors, refrigerant circuits, mechanical components, HVAC electrical systems, low-voltage controls, and safety procedures. Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation, with technical or vocational training in HVAC or a related field. Experience with building automation systems such as Johnson Controls, Trane, Siemens, Honeywell, or Schneider, plus comfort using CMMS and supporting system performance testing and automation adjustments.
