HVAC Installer Job Description This role focuses on installing and replacing residential HVAC systems, primarily furnaces, within a long-term Section 8 housing project in Lorain, OH. You will work 10-hour days from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., performing change-outs, running ductwork, and completing line sets while maintaining clean, neat, and reliable workmanship. Responsibilities Remove existing furnaces safely and efficiently in residential units within a Section 8 housing project. Install new furnaces and related HVAC equipment according to project specifications and industry standards. Run and install ductwork, ensuring proper layout, sizing, and secure connections for optimal system performance. Perform HVAC system change-outs, including disconnecting, removing, and replacing equipment and components. Install and connect line sets and related refrigerant piping; ability to perform sine sets is considered a plus. Use personal tools and equipment to complete daily installation and replacement tasks accurately and on time. Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area in occupied housing units and common spaces. Follow all safety guidelines and best practices while working on site, including proper handling of tools and materials. Communicate reliably and professionally with team members and site personnel to coordinate work and meet project timelines. Complete assigned work consistently and dependably, demonstrating strong reliability and attention to detail. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in HVAC installation and replacement, specifically with residential systems. Proven ability to pull out and replace furnaces in occupied or residential settings. Hands-on experience with ductwork installation, including running, fitting, and securing duct systems. Competence in performing HVAC change-outs, from removal to installation of new equipment. Ability to work with line sets and related refrigerant piping. Ownership and regular use of personal HVAC installation tools necessary to perform daily tasks. Demonstrated reliability in attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned work. Strong focus on clean, neat, and organized workmanship in all aspects of installation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on multi-unit housing or similar large-scale residential projects. Ability to perform sine sets and advanced line set installations is a plus. Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a tidy work environment. Strong problem-solving skills when encountering existing system or structural challenges. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.84/hr.
