Residential HVAC Service & Startup Technician Callon Mechanical Hendersonville, TN 37077 Hybrid work $25.00 - $36.77 an hour - Full-time $25.00 - $36.77 an hour - Full-time Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Residential HVAC Service & Startup Technician, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring our clients experience optimal comfort through expert installation, startup, and service of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential HVAC projects, utilizing your technical skills to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize mechanical systems. Duties Perform installation, startup, and commissioning of residential HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems. Conduct thorough diagnostics using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and refrigerant gauges to identify system issues quickly and accurately. Repair and maintain mechanical systems including plumbing, electrical components, refrigeration lines, and mechanical systems repair to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot complex HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems by interpreting schematics and technical manuals. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, system calibrations, and preventative inspections to extend equipment lifespan. Utilize welding skills and ammonia refrigeration knowledge for specialized repairs when necessary. Ensure all work complies with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and environmental safety standards. Document all service activities thoroughly and communicate clearly with clients about system status and recommended solutions. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols during all service operations. Skills Construction experience combined with hands-on service technician expertise in HVAC systems. Strong understanding of schematics, HVAC design principles, and building automation systems. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters. Knowledge of refrigeration principles including ammonia refrigeration systems when applicable. Mechanical knowledge with experience in mechanical systems repair such as boilers, pumps, and mechanical components. Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately for precise installations or repairs. Experience with plumbing work related to HVAC applications is highly desirable. Familiarity with appliance repair and property maintenance tasks related to climate control systems. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications such as HVAC/R or boiler licenses are a plus. Skilled in equipment repair including welding techniques when necessary for system integrity. Experience working with building automation systems to optimize HVAC performance remotely or on-site. Strong field service background with excellent problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
