We are seeking an HVAC Mechanic to support the Rhode Island Hospital by inspecting, repairing, and performing all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to the hospital heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems and related equipment. This is a night shift position with a competitive hourly pay range of $38.18 - $47.46.
Responsibilities:
Inspect pumps, air handling units, refrigeration equipment, air conditioning and ventilation units, machinery spaces, and rooftop cooling towers and make spot repairs and adjustments or report equipment failures, leaks, floods, and other safety concerns Repair malfunctioning HVAC equipment, including fan belts, pumps, seals, bearings, motors, water and steam coils, refrigeration systems, and air conditioning systems Record pressure, temperature, water, steam, and monthly electrical readings and repair or adjust HVAC controls, including pneumatic discharge controllers and thermostats Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment, including steam absorption units, air handling units, and pumps Assist with the installation, removal, and storage of HVAC equipment in compliance with CFC refrigerant requirements Respond to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repair calls during off-shifts and weekends; respond to fire alarms to operate elevators for Fire Department personnel; and help repair ruptured city water mains and valves across hospital buildings and grounds Maintain daily service logs with labor and materials used, and use the computerized work order system to research equipment history, parts requirements, and department information
Qualifications:
1+ years of experience in heating, ventilation, and refrigeration or equivalent knowledge, with the ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and related systems within a large hospital complex State of Rhode Island Refrigeration Journeyman License required Working at Brown University Health As of October 15, 2024, Lifespan is now Brown University Health.
