Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician, where you will be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing essential mechanical systems that keep buildings comfortable and operational. Duties Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment (including ammonia refrigeration), and mechanical systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and building automation system diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions. Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults within electrical components of HVAC equipment. Repair and service plumbing components related to HVAC systems, ensuring proper operation of water supply lines and drainage. Utilize welding skills for repairs on metal components or ductwork when necessary; perform equipment repair and mechanical systems repair with precision. Diagnose complex issues involving HVAC/R systems using advanced mechanical knowledge; execute repairs efficiently while adhering to safety standards such as EPA certification requirements. Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, incident logs, and documentation for all maintenance activities performed. Operate a driver vehicle safely for field service visits across multiple sites; ensure timely response to service requests. Assist in the design or modification of HVAC systems by applying HVAC design principles tailored to building specifications. Support property maintenance efforts by ensuring all mechanical systems operate smoothly and efficiently; respond promptly to emergency repairs or system failures. Collaborate with team members on building automation systems integration to optimize energy efficiency and system performance. Qualifications Proven experience in construction or property maintenance with a focus on HVAC/R systems; previous service technician experience is highly valued. Strong mechanical knowledge including familiarity with refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), boilers, air conditioning units, plumbing, electrical diagnostics, welding, and equipment repair. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and building automation system diagrams accurately. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; knowledge of HVAC design principles is a plus. Experience working with electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters; proficiency in troubleshooting complex mechanical systems. Skilled in field service operations with a track record of timely problem resolution in fast-paced environments. Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) for energy management and system control optimization. Mechanical or technical certifications related to HVAC or property maintenance are preferred. Ability to operate a driver vehicle safely; clean driving record required. Hands-on experience with welding techniques; familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems is advantageous.
