Responsibilities maintenance, service, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and mechanical systems. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and electrical schematics to identify faults accurately. Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure peak performance and extend operational lifespan. Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and refrigeration units, including ammonia refrigeration systems when applicable. Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and building automation system diagrams for precise system installation and repairs. Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems to maintain safety and efficiency standards. Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports of all work performed for accountability and future reference. Collaborate with clients to provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs, maintenance procedures, and system operations clearly. Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems ensuring compliance with safety standards and building codes. Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to perform equipment troubleshooting, repair, or replacement as needed. Support ongoing maintenance programs to optimize system performance while adhering to EPA regulations for refrigerants. Skills Proven experience in construction or HVAC service technician roles with a strong understanding of mechanical systems repair. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and building automation system diagrams accurately. Knowledge of HVAC design principles along with plumbing and electrical systems integration. Skilled in diagnosing issues related to HVAC system repair, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting refrigeration units including ammonia refrigeration. Familiarity with electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters; capable of electrical system troubleshooting. Mechanical knowledge of HVAC/R equipment including boilers, air conditioning units, ventilation fans, ductwork, pumps, valves, and controls. Experience working with hand tools essential for equipment repair and maintenance tasks. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients. Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants; knowledge of building automation systems is a plus. Ability to operate a van or company vehicle safely as part of daily responsibilities.
