Job Duties:
Commission and start up HVAC control systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, chillers, boilers, VAVs, fan coils, heat pumps, and terminal units Perform point‑to‑point verification, I/O checkout, and functional testing of HVAC devices Validate sequences of operation against control drawings and specifications Load, modify, and troubleshoot BAS controller, HMI, and supervisory programming Set up and verify sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, and safeties Tune control loops (PID) for temperature, pressure, airflow, and humidity control Verify VFD operation, parameters, and interlocks Troubleshoot electrical, control, and communication issues during start‑up Coordinate with electricians, mechanical contractors, TAB contractors, and engineers Support system integration testing and customer acceptance Document deficiencies, corrections, and final performance results Assist with operator training and system turnover documentation Follow all jobsite safety procedures and HVAC best practices
Requirements:
Technical degree, certification, or equivalent hands‑on HVAC/controls experience 2+ years of HVAC controls startup or commissioning experience Working knowledge of HVAC systems and control strategies Experience with BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Schneider) Ability to read HVAC control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Knowledge of HVAC safety practices and electrical fundamentals Willingness to travel to project sites and work extended hours during start‑up phases
