Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled, reliable, and driven Commercial HVAC Lead Technician to oversee and direct our commercial new construction and remodeling projects. In this role, you will serve as the primary on-site lead responsible for taking complex commercial jobs from engineering blueprints to final sign-off. You will manage daily job-site operations, ensure strict plan and building code compliance, interface with general contractors, and mentor a crew of technicians and apprentices. Key Duties and Responsibilities Blueprint Interpretation & Project Planning Blueprint & Submittal Execution:

Read, analyze, and execute work directly from Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) engineering drawings, submittals, duct layouts, and mechanical blueprints.

Layout & Field Markouts:

Perform accurate field take-offs and layout markouts for duct runs, equipment pads, roof curbs, piping, and electrical feeds prior to installation. Requests for Information (RFI) &

Submittal Management:

Identify plan discrepancies or site conflicts early and collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and engineers to submit RFIs and resolve field issues.

New Construction & Commercial Remodeling Full-System Construction:

Direct and execute the complete installation of commercial HVAC systems for new builds, tenant build-outs, structure additions, and major retrofits.

Commercial Equipment Installation:

Expertly set, pipe, and commission commercial rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, Variable Refrigerant Volume/Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRV/VRF) systems, chillers, make-up air units (MAUs), commercial exhaust hoods, and Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes.

Ductwork & Mechanical Piping:

Oversee the fabrication, assembly, hanging, and sealing of sheet metal ductwork, spiral pipe, refrigerant linesets, gas piping, and condensate drains to meet code specifications.

Code & Structural Compliance:

Ensure all mechanical penetrations, support hangings, fire dampers, and equipment placement strictly follow local mechanical codes, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) standards, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations.

Technical, Electrical & Controls Operations Advanced Wiring & BAS:

Read complex electrical schematics and ladder diagrams to wire, integrate, and configure low/line voltage controls, zoning systems, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).

System Start-Up & Commissioning:

Perform comprehensive system start-ups, airflow balancing, pressure testing, evacuation, and performance tuning to verify equipment operates at design efficiency.

Refrigerant & Safety Compliance:

Safely recover, vacuum-evacuate, and charge commercial refrigerants in strict adherence to EPA guidelines, maintaining flawless job-site compliance logs.

On-Site Leadership & Crew Supervision Field Crew Management:

Lead, delegate, and supervise day-to-day tasks for junior technicians, installers, and apprentices to ensure efficient labor utilization and high productivity.

Quality Control & Inspections:

Conduct rigorous quality assurance inspections on all rough-ins and trim-outs; represent the company during municipal building inspections and GC walk-throughs.

Mentorship & Safety Leadership:

Train apprentices in proper installation methods, trade safety standards, and tool usage while maintaining an accident-free work environment.

Material & Inventory Logistics:

Coordinate daily material deliveries, track equipment staged on site, manage field inventory, and ensure company service vehicles and specialty tools are maintained.
