Job Description
Why This Job Is Different Most installation jobs put you on a crew and hand you a task list. This one puts you in charge of the crew. At Southwest Cooling and Heating, the Install Team Lead sets the standard on every job — for quality, safety, communication, and customer experience. When your team shows up to an install, the customer sees the company. What they experience is on you, and we think that is a good thing. Southwest has been owner-operated since 1980. No private equity. No out-of-state management. The people making decisions here know residential HVAC, know Southern Utah, and know the difference between a team that is managed and a team that is led. If you have the experience, the accountability, and the pride to run a crew the right way — this role was built for you. Compensation Competitive hourly base pay commensurate with experience and demonstrated skill. Paid bi-weekly. Team bonus pool eligibility based on install performance. Leadership roles earn a proportionally larger share as contributing members. We will walk through the full structure in our first conversation — no games. Schedule and shift details discussed during our initial conversation. Long-term growth opportunity in a company that promotes from within and is expanding aggressively. What You Will Do Lead your install crew from first tool out of the truck to final walkthrough with the customer — start to finish accountability Ensure every installation is completed correctly the first time, to code, with quality and care — no shortcuts, no callbacks Plan, organize, and execute installation projects efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards. Train, mentor, and develop installers, helpers, and apprentices assigned to your crew. Maintain accountability for job quality, material usage, equipment handling, and jobsite cleanliness. Complete required installation documentation, photographs, and job records. Coordinate with warehouse, service, sales, and office personnel to ensure smooth project execution. Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment assigned to your team. Keep your truck and crew trucks clean, stocked, and accurately inventoried. Protect the customer's home and leave it cleaner than you found it — every time. Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement. Lead by example in attitude, workmanship, and customer service. What We Are Looking For EPA 608 Certification required RMGA Certification required High School Diploma or GED required; HVAC trade school graduate strongly preferred Five or more years of residential HVAC installation experience preferred — you have run enough jobs to know what right looks like and what it costs when it goes wrong Demonstrated ability to lead a crew — not just work alongside one Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; able to support your team when the job does not go as planned Valid driver's license with a clean record and insurable under the company's carrier Comfortable with tablets, smartphones, and GPS navigation systems — our teams work paperlessly in the field Customer communication skills that reflect the company well — you can explain what happened, what it costs, and why it matters Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple moving parts Team-first mentality — you communicate, you hold the standard, and you hold your crew to it What We Offer Stable full-time leadership role with genuine long-term growth opportunity Owner-led company — direct access to decision-makers, no layers of corporate management 45 years of established reputation in Southern Utah Bonus pool structure that rewards team performance and individual leadership A culture that values accountability, professionalism, and doing the job right A company culture built around Trust First, Integrity Always, and Care Deeply. Scheduling designed to support long-term performance and reduce burnout during peak season. Specific schedule details will be discussed during our initial conversation. A company that is growing and wants leaders who grow with it. What We Are Building Southwest Cooling and Heating has served Southern Utah since 1980, and we are entering a new phase of growth. This position is not about stepping into someone else's seat. This is an opportunity to help build a additional Install Team from the ground up and establish the standard for what that team becomes. The right leader will have the opportunity to shape crew culture, develop future installers, and help create one of the strongest residential installation departments in Southern Utah. We are not interested in simply filling a position. As we grow, our goal is a depth of experienced leadership across multiple install teams — strong leads who develop the next generation of installers and make the company better at every level. If you are experienced, accountable, and want to build something rather than just maintain it — we want to have a conversation.
