In this energetic role, you will support the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems across a variety of commercial and residential properties. Your mechanical aptitude, technical skills, and customer service mindset will drive your success in ensuring HVAC systems operate smoothly and reliably. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in HVAC technology while contributing to building safety and occupant comfort. Responsibilities Assist with the installation of HVAC systems, including ductwork, equipment placement, and system connections following schematics and design plans. Perform routine maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot HVAC system issues using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters and identify root causes for equipment failures. Repair or replace HVAC components including compressors, fans, thermostats, electrical wiring, plumbing connections, and refrigeration units. Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and building automation system controls to facilitate accurate repairs and installations. Conduct equipment troubleshooting using welding tools, hand tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment to restore functionality efficiently. Support field service operations by maintaining detailed service reports, logs, and documentation of repairs performed. Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving HVAC system design modifications or upgrades. Ensure compliance with EPA regulations related to refrigerant handling and environmental safety standards. Assist with property maintenance tasks related to air conditioning units, boilers, ammonia refrigeration systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment. Experience Previous construction experience or hands-on work in building maintenance is highly desirable. Service technician experience in HVAC or related mechanical systems is preferred. Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, electrical diagnostics, and refrigeration is essential. Practical knowledge of HVAC system repair, installation procedures, and equipment troubleshooting techniques. Mechanical knowledge encompassing boiler operation, building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems integration (HVAC/R), appliance repair, welding skills, and general property maintenance. Experience working with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, voltmeters/electricians' meters (including ohmmeters), and specialized diagnostic tools. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required for field service assignments. Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are necessary; additional certifications in ammonia refrigeration or welding are a plus.
