ABOUT THE POSITION
The Standard Installer plays an integral role within the Customer Solutions Team to ensure high quality and safe installations of various electrified and natural gas equipment. They are responsible for delivering excellent customer service. A Standard Installer works without close supervision and may be asked to train other installers.
WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION?
Knowledgeable about Vermont Gas Systems (VGS) policies, procedures, paperwork, safety rules and follows safe working practices and compliance procedures. Meets with customers to evaluate needs for installation of natural gas and electrified heating and cooling equipment. Maintains general parts/equipment stock within the vehicle and obtains parts/equipment needed for specific customer visits. Provides instructions to customers on the proper usage of a product. Installs, inspects, starts up and adjusts moderately complex residential and light commercial electric equipment. Installs residential electrified equipment and VGS electrified rental equipment. Installs residential furnace and boiler systems along with any purchase and rental equipment. Sizes and designs piping and venting systems. Provides instruction and training to developing technicians. Ensures proper maintenance is conducted for all tools, equipment and maintains a clean, presentable vehicle. Prepares all necessary paperwork, electronically with an attention to detail and accuracy. Attends all required trainings, such as safety, compliance and monthly team meetings. Responsible for staying up to date with new product and service information offered by VGS. Competently uses various forms of technology to perform their work such as customer service database applications, GIS, Salesforce, and more. Maintains Natural Gas Certification. Other duties as may be required or assigned.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE?
Able to operate a motor vehicle with an unrestricted, valid motor vehicle license and must maintain a satisfactory driving record. Proficient understanding of general thermal services business operations. Effective problem solver and seeks creative solutions. Excellent customer service skills to deliver a positive customer experience. Works well within a team environment to accomplish goals. Resolves interpersonal conflicts independently and in a construction manner. Effective communicator with both customers and team members. Accepts responsibility for the timely completion of tasks and works independent of direct supervision. Must be comfortable using technology, such as tablets and smartphones as well as applicable software to complete job duties. Conducts job duties with integrity and honesty. Strong attention to detail. Able to work during required hours, which includes overtime. Has thorough working knowledge of technologies such as boilers, plumbing, radiators, and heat emission control. Has knowledge of precise sizing, calculating heat demand, and emitters. Sound understanding of electrical wiring. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Natural Gas Certification. EPA 608 license. R-32 Refrigerant Certification (A2L flammable refrigerants). Electrical Type-S A-1 and C-3 licenses These skills are normally acquired through proficient demonstration of tasks and responsibilities in the Standard Installer Associate level with a recommended period of 12 months experience within the role. Physical Demands/Work Conditions Frequently required to kneel, stand, squat, bend, lie, twist, climb, reach (above shoulders) Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods. Must be able to lift and handle loads up to 100 lbs. May have to work on uneven ground and be exposed to dust, fumes, gases or odors. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required for specific job duties. Use both hands for simple grasping and object manipulation. Ability to work in tight spaces.
