GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins is seeking a Senior HVAC Specialist . As a crucial member of our facilities team, this position will diagnose, repair, and perform comprehensive preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. Additionally, you will support the facility's overall operations by executing general preventive maintenance and facility repairs as needed. FUNCTIONS
The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. Installs, adjusts, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical, direct digital controls, and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems. Conducts routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC/R equipment. Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation. Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment. Reads and interprets schematic drawings and diagrams that pertain to HVAC systems. Operates and maintains the facility's multiple boiler rooms & appurtenances in a safe & efficient manner. Acts as an escort for contracted vendors on HVAC or other general maintenance issues. Maintains records through the AIM maintenance management software and orders spare parts. Plumbing includes the unplugging of sinks, toilets, and drains, and repairing or replacing the defective parts associated with the above. General maintenance to include snow removal, material handling, cleaning up, and contractor assistance. Supervises inmate crews to perform preventive boiler maintenance and other HVAC and general maintenance tasks. Tool control of shop equipment. Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials. Be able to work on-call on a rotating basis to include occasional night and weekend hours. Ensures adherence to all WDOC policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable workplace, including participation in initiatives designed to promote a positive work environment. PREFERENCES/•AGENCY
REQUIREMENTS
Preference may be given to those with 3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field. •Ability to obtain an EPA License
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, air conditioning, and related air handling equipment. Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used to install, maintain, and repair HVAC-R equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an
HVAC Specialist OR Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an
HVAC Specialist Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Agency may require an EPA License.
