Job Description

Position Summary The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery and facility equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. The Mechanic performs preventive maintenance, supports production teams, and helps minimize downtime to keep the plant operating smoothly. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform routine maintenance on food production machinery (mixers, conveyors, packaging equipment, pumps, motors, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Repair or replace defective components such as belts, gears, valves, bearings, motors, cylinders, and pumps.
  • Maintain and repair facility equipment such as rolling racks, pallet jacks, and loading dock hydraulics.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals. Preventive Maintenance (PM)
  • Develop, follow, and document preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment failures and extend equipment life.
  • Lubricate, clean, inspect, and adjust machinery regularly.
  • Identify wear and tear proactively and replace components before failure. Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets food safety, GMP, USDA, BRC, and plant sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of equipment and tools.
  • Machine Guarding
  • Follow all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Operational Support
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production and quality to resolve equipment issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend efficiency or safety improvements. Documentation & Inventory
  • Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance activities and parts usage.
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to record work orders and track equipment performance.
  • Assist with inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed. Key Relationships

    0 Ideal Experience & Education
    • High school diploma required; technical or vocational training in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred.
    • 5 years' experience of Food Industry
    • Experience in a food, beverage, or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
    • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
    • Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
    • Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions using schematics and blueprints.
    • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
    • Ability to operate forklifts, man-lifts, ladders, and other industrial equipment.
    • Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to input information into computer programs Compensation The pay range for this role takes into account the wide array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
    A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range is $30-35 per hour. The role is overtime eligible and will also have a bonus compensation component. Work Conditions
