ductwork fabrication OSHA 10-Hour Construction Full Job Description What to Expect The Self Perform Mechanical Sheet Metal Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and support of industrial-grade ductwork systems, seismic bracing, and hangers on large-scale mechanical construction projects. This role also includes the occasional installation and startup of small residential-style HVAC equipment including split air and mini-split systems. The Sheet Metal Technician works closely with the mechanical field team to ensure ductwork systems are installed per drawings, properly braced, and ready for commissioning. This role will be Reno local and will require travel to multiple job sites throughout the Reno Region. What You'll Do Fabricate and install industrial-grade sheet metal ductwork including rectangular, round, and oval duct systems per construction drawings and SMACNA standards Install seismic bracing and hanger systems for ductwork per engineering drawings and applicable code requirements (SMACNA, IBC seismic provisions) Read and interpret mechanical plans, P&IDs, and shop drawings to execute ductwork layouts and coordinate with other trades Install residential and light-commercial split air and mini-split HVAC systems including indoor/outdoor units, refrigerant lines, and condensate drains Coordinate with piping, controls, and electrical trades to ensure proper sequencing, clearances, and system integration Perform quality checks on installed ductwork including duct leakage verification and seismic brace inspection Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; comply with all site-specific safety requirements and Tesla EHS standards What You'll Bring 3+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication and ductwork installation on commercial or industrial construction projects with a working knowledge of SMACNA standards Experience installing seismic hangers and bracing systems per IBC and project-specific engineering requirements Experience with split air and mini-split system installation and startup; EPA 608 refrigerant certification a plus Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, duct isometrics, and equipment submittals Physical stamina and ability to work overhead, at heights, and in confined or obstructed areas on 12-hour shifts OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 a plus Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-site environment with varying indoor and outdoor conditions Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $28.80 - $54.63/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
