Representation:

Travel:

No travel expected during the contract. If converted to a full-time employee and interested in field work, the person may support customer deployments in the US, Europe, and India, with travel up to approximately 30-40%.

Contract pay:

• Wiring, Soldering & Diagnostic Scripts | Robotics and Linux a + About the Company Our client is a San Francisco robotics company building autonomous rovers that inspect and maintain physical infrastructure.

Its team works across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to build, test, and deploy robotic systems. The Role You will build the robots. Working alongside mechanical and electrical engineers, you will assemble rovers and subassemblies from CAD and drawings, wire and harness them, and get them tested and out to customer sites. This is hands-on work across prototype builds, production assembly, and repairs, on a team small enough that your feedback changes the next revision of the design. Responsibilities Assemble rovers and subassemblies from engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions. Install motors, gearboxes, bearings, brackets, sensors, and cameras.

Build and route cable harnesses:

cutting, stripping, crimping, terminals, and connectors. Solder wires, connectors, and electronic components, and install electrical assemblies. Inspect builds for quality and alignment, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. Support prototype builds, testing, and repairs. Check electrical readings from circuit boards and internal components; test rover motion and response to commands; and verify connectivity before shipment. Run existing diagnostic scripts on the rover's onboard computer to help validate its operation before shipment. Give engineers feedback on assembly and design, and keep the shop organized and safe. Requirements Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly of electromechanical systems. Soldering and wire crimping experience. Able to read mechanical drawings and assembly instructions and build to them. Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and soldering equipment. Able to use basic measurement tools such as calipers, torque wrenches, and multimeters. Able to follow instructions to run existing diagnostic scripts and report the results. Software development experience is not required. Strong attention to detail and comfortable in a fast-paced prototype environment. Preferred An associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. Approximately 3-5 years of relevant hands-on technician experience; demonstrated ability matters more than a specific number of years. Experience assembling or testing robotic systems is a plus; prior robotics experience is not required.

Cable harness and connector experience:

Molex, JST, Micro-Fit, M12, or similar. Ability to read electrical schematics. Experience working from SolidWorks drawings or 3D CAD models. Familiarity with Linux, including navigating a shell and running scripts, is a plus. CNC machining, 3D printing, or basic fabrication experience. Contract and Conversion This position is expected to remain onsite in San Francisco throughout the projected 3-6-month contract. Full-time conversion is possible but not guaranteed.
