DetectionTek is looking for an experienced electronics/optical technician to anchor a growing production crew. You'll spend most of your time at the bench: reading circuit schematics and mechanical drawings, using multimeters and oscilloscopes to align and troubleshoot instruments, and diagnosing PCB and wire harness issues. Beyond that hands-on work, you'll help keep the production schedule visible to the team and pitch in on customer-facing technical questions as needed. There are no direct reports in this role — it's a senior technical position, not a supervisory one — but it carries more responsibility and pay than an entry-level assembly job.

Responsibilities:

Production & Assembly Align, calibrate, and troubleshoot fluorescent cytometer instruments using multimeters and oscilloscopes Troubleshoot wire harness and PCB assemblies using circuit schematics Use logical troubleshooting techniques to repair instruments, assemblies, and subassemblies Assemble and test optical systems in accordance with delivery schedules Verifies system performance by testing functioning of installed equipment Prepares for assembling by studying assembly instructions, specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies Use of hand tools and mechanical fixturing for mechanical assembly. Verifies specifications by measuring completed components Constructs product by fabricating parts; assembling circuits, components, and parts; operating drills and related machine tools Ensure that products meet quality standards, perform intended functions, and are shipped according to customer expectations Schedule & Process Support Help track the daily and weekly production schedule, flagging bottlenecks or delivery risks to leadership Maintain quality documents and production paperwork to ensure process flow and control Documents actions by completing production and quality forms Assist in resolving production failures or product issues and coordinating next steps with the team Assist with inspection of incoming components and identify non-conforming materials Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, and working with Purchasing to place and track orders Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs Notify leadership to obtain additional resources when assembly or scheduling problems arise Customer Support (as needed) Assist with customer technical support inquiries related to instrument function, calibration, and troubleshooting when called on Help walk customers through basic troubleshooting steps by phone or email; escalate complex issues appropriately Assist with return/repair (RMA) intake, diagnosis, and turnaround for customer instruments Relay recurring customer issues or product feedback to Engineering and Quality to support continuous improvement Maintain a professional, patient, and solutions-oriented tone in all customer interactions General Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Other duties as prescribed

Requirements:

Must be able to read analog and digital circuit schematics, wire harness schematics, and mechanical drawings Able to use multimeters and oscilloscopes for alignment and troubleshooting Demonstrated electronics, PCB, or mechanical troubleshooting skills 2-4 years of experience in electronics, optical, or mechanical assembly/production (technical degree a plus, high school diploma minimum) Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; stand, kneel, stoop, squat; use arms, hands, and fingers to inspect objects, tools, and controls Able to perform visual and dimensional inspections on completed assemblies and incoming component parts Full time, 40 hours/week; able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future No relocation offered. Must reside within 50 miles of the Gunbarrel, CO facility (Active Duty Military Service members exempt from this requirement)
