This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment). This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation open to the public. This is a Term position not to exceed 13 months, with provisions to extend up to 6 years. The Rock Island Arsenal - Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center is a state of the art, vertically integrated metal manufacturing facility. We are a readiness provider for the Department of War, designed to meet the needs of America's Warfighter. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Industrial Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and operational readiness of a wide range of industrial mobile equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on various types of industrial equipment, including overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and mobile cranes. Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) in accordance with OEM and OSHA standards to ensure equipment is safe and fully functional. Conduct overhauls, including dismantling, repairing, and reassembling intricate systems and components. Operate industrial equipment to test performance, verify repairs, and identify further maintenance needs. Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and work orders to plan and execute repairs efficiently. Perform minor structural welding and fabrication as needed to restore equipment to mission readiness. Provide guidance and assistance to other mechanics and maintain clear communication with customers regarding repair timelines and progress. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Subject to pre-employment and annual physical examination. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Pay:

$29.45 - $37.44 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
