09/02/2026 Job Description Job Description Prototype Vehicle Assembly Technician Slidell, LA $25.00 - $30.00/Hour All shifts available; ability to work OT on Weekends We are hiring a Prototype Vehicle Assembly Technician in Slidell, LA for an immediate, temporary assignment supporting the assembly, integration, and modification of prototype military combat vehicles and vehicle systems. This role pays $25.00-$30.00 per hour , is open to candidates available for all shifts, and offers weekend overtime opportunities; qualified candidates should have 5+ years of prototype component and vehicle assembly experience with expertise in diesel engines or heavy vehicles, blueprint interpretation, mechanical assembly, and military vehicle systems.
Responsibilities:
Assemble prototype military combat vehicles, components, and systems in support of engineering, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. Perform heavy mechanical assembly of major vehicle systems, including chassis, turrets, weapon systems, armor systems, drive systems, and power packs. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, 3D models, manuals, specifications, sketches, job orders, and planning documents. Perform vehicle and component assembly from design drawings and written or verbal work instructions. Operate hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, magnetic drills, grinders, and other equipment required for vehicle assembly. Perform assembly operations in accordance with established safety requirements. Adapt to engineering changes, prototype modifications, and rework requirements during assembly. Provide input on design, manufacturability, and assembly process improvements. Perform assigned assembly activities independently as required. Support quality and continuous improvement throughout prototype vehicle assembly activities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. 5+ years of experience in prototype component assembly and vehicle assembly. Diesel engine mechanic and/or heavy vehicle assembly experience. Experience using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, magnetic drills, grinders, and related assembly equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, sketches, job orders, planning documents, and engineering drawings. Ability to perform assembly tasks from design drawings and written or verbal work instructions. Ability to successfully complete required background checks, employment verification, reference checks, physical examination, and controlled substance testing. Ability to work on-site in Slidell, LA and be flexible to support all shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Military vehicle assembly or military vehicle modification experience. Basic knowledge of diesel power pack operation and maintenance. Familiarity with high-voltage electrical systems and vehicle electrical harness installation. Fork truck, crane, and basic machine shop equipment experience with applicable certifications. Steel and aluminum welding experience with certification. Material surface preparation and spray-painting experience. Experience driving or operating military vehicles. ASE mechanic certification, CDL, fork truck certification, or crane operation certification. Welding certification.
