Job DescriptionThe General Utility Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the physical infrastructure, equipment, and systems at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.Key Job FunctionsPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, including pumps, valves, generators, compressors, and motors.

Inspect and troubleshoot malfunctioning utility systems, examining parts for wear and replacing components as needed.

Lay, fit, and repair pipes for water, wastewater, steam, or compressed air systems. Perform general structural and HVAC maintenance.

Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including confined space entry, traffic control, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Maintain logs of completed work orders, parts inventory, and maintenance activitiesPerforms other related duties as requiredQualificationsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentMust be skilled in general maintenance tasks related to building utilities and other facility utility systems. Previous experience in industrial maintenance, plant operations, or a recognized mechanical trade (e.g., pipefitting, plumbing, or millwright work).Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Capability to perform heavy physical labor, lift heavy equipment, and work in varying weather conditions, confined spaces, or around hazardous materials. This role often requires rotating shifts, on-call availability, and emergency responseMust be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English languageMust be able to pass a government background checkAdditional Information
