Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Manager / Master Mechanic to lead our Direct Mail Manufacturing & Production operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex machinery and equipment used in high-volume direct mail production. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure all manufacturing equipment operates at peak performance, including Flow Master Inserters, Swing Arm Inserters, presses, laser printers, feeders, cutters, and finishing machinery. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems using schematics, blueprints, and diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, and precision measuring instruments. Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs on systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other automation components. Conduct equipment troubleshooting and repairs involving electrical systems to maintain continuous production flow. Ensure compliance with safety protocols by conducting routine inspections of machinery and work areas; enforce lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities. Collaborate with internal teams on system upgrades or modifications; provide technical support for operations when necessary. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts inventory to optimize operational efficiency. Experience Proven experience managing maintenance operations within a direct mail manufacturing facility environment; direct mail production experience is a must. Extensive knowledge of industrial mechanics, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and troubleshooting mechanical systems. Hands-on experience with CMMS software for scheduling preventive maintenance and tracking work orders. Strong background in electrical diagnostics including blueprint reading of electrical schematics and blueprints related to industrial equipment. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters for accurate diagnostics. Demonstrated ability to perform equipment repair involving welding, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial electrical practices, and engineering troubleshooting techniques when necessary. Working with staff, parts companies and external contractors when needed. Excellent analysis skills combined with customer service orientation to support internal teams and external vendors effectively.
