Job Description

Industrial Electromechanical Technician Position Summary The Industrial Electromechanical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, facility systems, and utilities to support continuous bakery manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently while meeting food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and experience working with automated production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on bakery production equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation-related equipment failures. Troubleshoot and maintain mixers, conveyors, proofers, ovens, freezers, refrigeration systems, bowl lifts, pan washers, flour handling systems, packaging equipment, air compressors, steam boilers, HVAC systems, and facility utilities. Install, align, and commission new production equipment and machinery. Electrical & Automation Troubleshoot electrical control systems, PLCs, HMIs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, relays, motors, and control panels. Replace and maintain motors, overloads, circuit breakers, switches, proximity sensors, heaters, pumps, fans, and other electrical components. Assist with automation and process improvements to improve equipment performance and reliability. Preventive Maintenance & Reliability Complete preventive maintenance inspections according to the maintenance schedule. Conduct equipment pre-start inspections before production. Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions before breakdowns occur. Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders within the CMMS. Safety & Food Quality Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMPs, SQF requirements, and Food Safety standards. Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and work areas. Ensure all repairs comply with food manufacturing standards and company procedures. Team Collaboration Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Engineering, and Operations teams to minimize downtime. Communicate equipment issues and maintenance recommendations to supervisors and management. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, productivity, and cost reduction. Mentor and assist junior maintenance technicians when needed. Qualifications Required 3-5 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing, bakery, pharmaceutical, packaging, or industrial manufacturing. Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Experience with:
PLCs HMIs Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Electrical control systems Motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and automation equipment Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals. Experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments. Ability to prioritize work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
