Junior Industrial Machine Mechanic Job description Graphic Image manufactures leather handbags, accessories, and leather-bound books in our 50,000 sq ft factory in Melville, LI. We are seeking a full-time Junior Industrial Machine Mechanic. Learn and work alongside our senior mechanic to set up, maintain, troubleshoot and repair factory machinery and building maintenance. Some mechanical experience and training is required. If you are handy, fast learner, interested in the mechanics of machinery and very eager to learn more, we will train you.

Responsibilities include:

Inspect, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure they are always in proper working order. Maintain machinery and equipment by cleaning them after use, adjusting parts, and lubricating moving components to ensure proper, efficient function. Change blades on the guillotines that split the leather and change filters and oils on our hydraulic machines. Record all maintenance and repair services performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process. Work with purchasing to replenish materials and parts when inventory grows low or is depleted. Be able to read manufacturer manuals and blueprints and follow directions when installing newly acquired machinery. Cut and weld metal pieces together to fabricate new parts, assemble equipment, or repair broken parts as required. Building Maintenance, basic carpentry and plumbing skills a plus.

Job Skills & Qualifications Required:

1-2 years previous experience assembling and repairing machinery (Highly Preferred) Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and welding preferred, as well as electrical skills.
