An Industrial Mechanic repairs and maintains complex machines used in production or manufacturing, such as conveyor belts; may use computerized diagnostic equipment.
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers (Level II-IV) to support projects at a major nuclear power generation facility in Ohio. This position focuses on plant infrastructure, mechanical systems, equipment upgrades, and facility support systems that are critical to safe and reliable power generation. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers from power generation, utilities, refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments who are interested in applying their expertise within the nuclear energy sector. Previous nuclear experience is not required. Key Responsibilities:
Support the planning, design, procurement, installation, and modification of mechanical systems and equipment. Develop engineering packages, technical specifications, and scopes of work for plant improvement projects. Evaluate existing system performance and recommend upgrades or modifications. Participate in project scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and engineering reviews.
Prepare equipment specifications for:
Heat exchangers Pumps Pressure vessels Cooling systems Tanks Process equipment Develop equipment inquiry and RFQ packages. Review vendor proposals and perform technical bid evaluations. Provide recommendations for equipment selection and procurement. Review supplier documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. Conduct field walkdowns and collect engineering data required for project execution. Support plant operations, maintenance, and reliability initiatives. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), specifications, and technical documents. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, project management, procurement, and construction teams. Successful candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: Mechanical equipment design and evaluation Heat exchangers Cooling water systems Piping systems Pumps and rotating equipment Pressure vessels Metallurgy and material selection Mechanical integrity programs Industrial facility operations Plant reliability and maintenance Equipment replacement and upgrade projects Utility infrastructure systems Energy production facilities
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. 5+ years of engineering experience in one or more of the following industries: Power Generation Utilities Chemical Processing Petrochemical Refining Manufacturing Heavy Industrial Facilities Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and industrial equipment. Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical solutions. Experience working in operating industrial facilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency with engineering software and CAD tools.
Preffered Qualifications:
Previous experience at nuclear generating stations. Combined Cycle Power Plant experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience supporting capital projects and facility upgrades. Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices. US Citizenship is required.
