Mechanical Installer II Job Description The Mechanical Installer II role focuses on the installation and commissioning of robotic arms, sub-stations, and related material handling equipment in a large distribution center environment. This position suits mechanically inclined individuals who are comfortable using hand and power tools, following detailed instructions and diagrams, and performing a mix of technical installation and general labor tasks. You will contribute to building and setting up advanced automation systems while supporting project teams with material handling, cleaning, and basic construction-related activities. Responsibilities Install approximately 20 robotic arms, around 40 sub-stations, and internal site fencing according to project requirements and diagrams. Perform installation and assembly work primarily on mezzanine and sub-mezzanine levels in the distribution center. Use pallet jacks to move, strap, and catalogue materials, ensuring accurate and organized material handling. Operate hand tools and air-powered tools to commission towers and equipment following step-by-step instructions. Run wiring for power supply and related connections as directed, ensuring clean and safe routing. Support project teams by assisting with commissioning activities, including basic mechanical assembly and setup of robotic arms and stations. Carry out general labor tasks such as sweeping, cleaning warehouse areas, loading, packaging, and assisting with construction-related duties as needed. Follow blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions to complete installations accurately and efficiently. Handle moderate to heavy material handling tasks, including consistent lifting of 40-50 pounds. Maintain good attendance, arrive on time, and follow directions from supervisors and project leads. Work flexibly across multiple positions, including inventory support, housekeeping, and other assigned duties. Adhere to all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times. Maintain a professional and presentable demeanor in a high-visibility environment. Essential Skills Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery, robotics, or similar equipment. Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to follow step-by-step instructions, diagrams, and basic blueprints for installation and commissioning tasks. Capability to lift and carry 40-50 pounds consistently throughout an 8-hour shift. Comfort working an 8-hour day on a hard cement floor. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to take direction well and work collaboratively within a project team. Willingness to perform both technical installation work and general labor tasks. Basic material handling experience, including the safe use of pallet jacks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with robotics installation, material handling systems, or automation equipment. general labor, construction, loading, packaging, or warehouse environments. Experience working in busy or under-construction facilities. Comfort working in multiple roles, such as inventory support and housekeeping, as project needs change. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large distribution center that is currently under construction, which means the environment can be messy, loud, and at times crowded. You will work around active construction and installation activities, so safety awareness is essential. This is a high-visibility setting where professionalism and a presentable appearance are important. Required attire includes personal protective equipment such as a high-visibility vest, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, and composite-toe shoes or boots. Jeans and T-shirts are acceptable, provided clothing is not loose or baggy to maintain safety around tools and machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Vandalia, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
