Job Description:
Richmond, VA ingredient manufacturer, has an immediate opening for an Industrial Mechanic. The mechanic's job includes repairs and routine maintenance of industrial equipment. In addition, the mechanic is needed to perform basic facility maintenance and have basic electrical knowledge. Provide Safety training, be involved with production including verification of documentation and assistance as needed in light production environment. Assist in loading and unloading freight as needed basis. All needs assigned by operation manager.
Responsibilities:
The primary areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to general mechanical work, maximizing equipment uptime through preventative maintenance and quick turnaround time on repairs. Additional responsibilities may include working in manufacturing. The position is generally scheduled from 7AM to 3:30 PM.
Requirements :
Installation and/or repair of pumps, motors, gear boxes, mixers, fans, valves, conveyors, etc. Working knowledge of pneumatic controls. Small equipment repair. Pipefitting for installations as well as repair and maintenance of steam, water, drain and air lines. Ability to use welding machines, cutting torches, small power tools. Oversee contractors and compile bids for service. Must be able to specify replacement parts to improve reliability of equipment, machinery, and systems. Work overtime on an as needed basis. Work independently and carry out assignments in a timely, cost-effective manner. Conform to regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions. Able to use a one man lift and forklift.
Education and Experience :
Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification. 3+ years of demonstrated mechanical experience in an industrial environment. Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude. Work independently and carry out assignments in a timely, cost-effective manner. High School Diploma 2-year degree or related vocational/apprentice education preferred. Experience with boiler operation is preferred.
