Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our food manufacturing team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment, facility systems, and utilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to respond to equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems . Diagnose equipment failures and make repairs safely and efficiently to minimize production downtime. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production and facility equipment.
Troubleshoot and work with:
Motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and conveyors Electrical panels, starters, contactors, VFDs, and disconnects PLC-controlled equipment and industrial control systems Pneumatic and hydraulic systems Boilers, compressors, refrigeration, and other plant utilities Steam, water, compressed air, and other utility systems Perform equipment adjustments, alignment, lubrication, component replacement, and mechanical repairs. Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals . Assist with installation, startup, modification, and commissioning of new equipment. Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and other general maintenance tasks as needed. Complete preventive maintenance work orders and accurately document repairs and equipment history. Respond to emergency breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on safety and production requirements. Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area and follow proper tool and equipment procedures. Follow all company safety, GMP, food safety, and sanitation requirements. Follow LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and all applicable OSHA requirements. Work closely with production and other maintenance personnel to identify recurring problems and improve equipment reliability. Participate in continuous improvement projects designed to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance , preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities. Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Basic computer skills and ability to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Ability to safely use common maintenance tools and test equipment. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during equipment failures. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and respond to production-related maintenance needs.
Preferred but not required:
Technical degree, certificate, or formal training in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field. PLC troubleshooting experience. VFD experience. Experience with boilers, compressors, refrigeration, pumps, and other industrial utilities. Welding and fabrication experience. Experience with food manufacturing equipment. Experience with preventive/predictive maintenance programs. Experience with CMMS systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods. Ability to safely lift and carry maintenance-related materials and equipment. Ability to work from ladders, lifts, platforms, and elevated work areas when required. Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments. Ability to wear required PPE and comply with food plant sanitation requirements. Work Environment This is an industrial food manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician may be exposed to noise, heat, cold, water, cleaning chemicals, moving machinery, and other typical manufacturing conditions. The position may require working nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, or on-call/standby hours depending on production needs. Pay:
$26.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
