This position is aligned under the Preventative Maintenance and Repair Shop, Facilities Management Division, at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI (695) a Level 1a Complexity VHA Facility. The work involves operations, repair and maintenance of industrial equipment and components throughout the medical center.

Physical Effort:

Work assignments require moderate physical effort. The employee handles objects weighing 45 pounds and occasionally carries objects weighing 45 pounds and over for considerable distances. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. The work is performed in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Routine climbing and work in high places on ladders and roof tops is be required.

Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed in dimly lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Most equipment is fixed in place and it is commonly necessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. The employee is subjected to injuries, such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons. The hazards of working around moving belts, gears, rollers, etc. are constant.
