Job Description
Wanderoo Lodge is looking for a second set of hands to support our maintenance lead. This is not a stand-alone position — you'll work directly alongside our maintenance person, learning our systems, our building, and the "Wanderoo way" of doing things. Some tasks may be assigned for you to complete independently once you've been shown the process, with work checked and signed off by our lead. We're an older property with a lot of character — and, like any historic building, a history of past repairs that weren't always done right. Part of this role is helping us go back and fix things properly, for good. What Matters Most We can teach skills. We can't teach attitude. We're looking for someone who is: Humble — willing to be taught, even things you think you already know Coachable — takes direction well and asks questions instead of guessing Honest — tells us when something's over their head instead of covering it up Steady — shows up, follows through, and takes pride in doing a job right the first time We are specifically not looking for a "know-it-all." If you're more interested in proving what you already know than learning how we do things here, this isn't the right fit. What You'll Do Work side-by-side with our maintenance lead on daily repairs, upkeep, and projects around the lodge and bar Learn our building's systems, quirks, and history — including where past shortcuts were taken and need correcting Take on assigned tasks independently once trained, with work reviewed before it's considered complete Help maintain guest rooms, common areas, grounds, and the Gravel Bar space Handle general repairs: patching, painting, basic plumbing/electrical assistance, carpentry, and similar hands-on work (training provided as needed) Communicate clearly when a task is done, in progress, or needs help What We're Looking For No specific experience required — willingness to learn matters more than a resume Reliable transportation and a consistent schedule Physically able to do hands-on labor (lifting, climbing, kneeling, standing for periods) Comfortable working both alongside someone and independently once trained A team player who fits into a small, close-knit business What We Offer Hands-on training from an experienced maintenance lead Steady, local work at a well-established Eureka Springs business A workplace that values character and effort over credentials
