This is an entry level position that will work as a laborer maintaining streets, culverts and drainage systems as assigned. This position on occasion will operate equipment used in maintaining road systems. Requires valid Arkansas drivers' license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Load and unload trucks and carrying of heavy materials. Maintains roads with asphalt repairs, cutting of grass, weeds, limbs, and trees and removing cuttings, act as flagman when crews are working on roadway. Maintains equipment and assigned vehicles in a clean and organized condition. Maintains drainage ways. Reports problems to immediate supervisor in a timely manner. May be required to work periodically for Sanitation/Recycling Department as trash collector. Follow all Property Owners' Association (POA) policies and safety rules. May receive or be required to gain additional training. May be required to drive a POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business. Other duties as assigned. This position is subject to on duty lunch periods. An on-duty meal period is one in which the employee is not relieved of all duties. Regular attendance is required. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This job requires general knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed. Must have ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Requires a valid Arkansas driver's license, and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
