A Maintenance Helper or Assistant assists maintenance mechanics. Repairs and maintains equipment and machines, such as cars or heating systems. May assemble or adjust machines as directed by a head mechanic.
Perform work involving the skills of maintenance or craft occupations to keep buildings, facilities, and equipment in repair. Duties may include insulating; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.

Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices. Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures. Position, attach, or blow insulating materials to prevent energy losses from buildings, pipes, or other structures or objects. Estimate costs to repair machinery, equipment, or building structures. Adhere to all policies of the District. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director. SALARY Salary ranges from a minimum ($35,629) to a maximum ($45,719) based on the 26/27 SY salary schedule for a 260-day contract. Pay will be determined by experience and certifications.
