Immediately Job Description School Maintenance Worker

Position Summary:

The School Maintenance Worker is responsible for helping maintain safe, clean, functional, and well-kept school facilities and grounds. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility support throughout the district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other building systems within the employee's training and qualifications. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of district buildings, equipment, and facilities. Maintain school grounds, including mowing, trimming, landscaping, and debris removal as assigned. Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency facility needs. Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and district vehicles. Assist with preparation of facilities for school activities, athletic events, and special events. Follow all district safety procedures and applicable state and federal requirements. Report safety hazards, needed repairs, and facility concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Superintendent. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Superintendent.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. General knowledge and experience in building maintenance, construction, or related trades preferred. Ability to perform physical labor, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely lift and move equipment and materials. Valid driver's license required. Must meet all employment and background-check requirements established by the McGehee School District and Arkansas law.
