Job Description
Summary Under close supervision, assists with general labor and maintenance tasks in various City departments. Essential Functions Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists with various manual labor tasks in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of municipal buildings, facilities, grounds, streets and parks; provides basic upkeep of vehicles and transports as required to maintenance shops; fire hydrant testing and related data input; duties may vary according to job assignment and individual skills. Performs job duties within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures, reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations. Follows all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents and enhance safety of the facilities. Learns a variety of general maintenance work methods and procedures, and the operation and maintenance of specialized tools and equipment. Supports the relationship between the City and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; promotes the City goals and priorities and complies with all City policies and procedures. Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Guidelines High school diploma or GED equivalent Six (6) months of general maintenance work
Knowledge of:
City policies and procedures. Occupational hazards and safety precautions. City geography, traffic patterns, streets, landmarks and facility locations.Skills In:
Using basic tools in a safe and effective manner. Following verbal and written instructions and procedures. License and Certifications Requirements A valid U.S. Driver's License is required Physical Demands and Working Environment Work is performed indoors, outdoors and at City facilities; requires the ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.Benefits
