Facilities Custodial Worker 2nd Shift - 2:30PM - 11:00PM Job Description The Janitor provides reliable and thorough cleaning and light maintenance services throughout the facility. This role ensures that all areas, including restrooms, offices, and common spaces, remain clean, safe, and well-maintained in accordance with established schedules and standards. Responsibilities Perform general housecleaning duties in accordance with the approved cleaning schedule. Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms, ensuring they are sanitary and fully supplied. Remove litter, wastepaper, and broken-down boxes from buildings and dispose of waste in appropriate dumpsters, including recyclable and non-recyclable materials. Vacuum carpeted floors and perform high and low dusting in assigned areas. Maintain cleanliness of both carpeted and tiled floors to ensure a neat and safe environment. Wet mop tile floors and perform spot cleaning as needed to address spills and stains. Provide general maintenance support and secure storage and supply rooms after use. Escort cleaning suppliers when they make deliveries and ensure supplies are stored properly. Assist with construction-related tasks, including moving furniture and shelving as assigned. Support basic maintenance activities such as replacement of light bulbs and ballasts. Keep track of ladders, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment used within the scope of the job. Use cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with facility guidelines. Essential Skills Minimum 6 months of experience in janitorial duties, including removing litter and wastepaper, breaking down and disposing of boxes, dusting, mopping, and spot cleaning. Ability to perform consistent cleaning tasks such as mopping, dusting, sanitizing, sweeping, vacuuming, and restroom cleaning. Basic reading, math, and writing skills to follow instructions, labels, and schedules. Average mechanical aptitude to handle basic maintenance tasks and operate cleaning equipment. Comfort with exposure to cleaning chemicals and ability to follow safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assisting with construction-related activities, including moving furniture or shelving. Ability to replace light bulbs and ballasts as part of routine maintenance. Bilingual communication skills are a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a facility environment that requires regular use of cleaning equipment such as mops, vacuums, ladders, and cleaning chemicals. The position follows a second-shift schedule from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The dress code is casual, and employees are provided with a work shirt as part of the standard attire. Work is performed indoors across various areas of the building, including restrooms, offices, and common spaces, with an emphasis on maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.80/hr.
