The Community Services Department is looking for one highly energetic and motivated self-starter to perform a variety of tasks for the Department's Maintenance Division. PANEL INTERVIEW
August 5, 2026 T he Maintenance Craftsworker I performs a variety of maintenance-related tasks, which include operating vehicles and various types of equipment for the Community Services Department's Maintenance division. These employees will perform irrigation repairs, playground equipment repairs, and basic plumbing repairs, and will assist with maintenance and burials at the City-owned cemetery. They may perform s treet/curb marking, pothole repair, concrete removal and replacement, and street sign removal, maintenance, and replacement. The Maintenance Craftsworker I is an entry-level position. These individuals perform more routine tasks and duties as assigned. They are not expected to operate with the same independence and judgment as individuals operating within the Craftsworker II classification. Employees in this classification work under immediate supervision, learning their positions' functional/technical aspects. The Maintenance Craftsworker I position is full-time, 38 hours per week, between Monday and Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours of work may vary, and some evening and holiday hours may be required. Work schedule depends on crew assignment and will be determined upon hire. Experience :
One year of experience in construction or maintenance work, including some semi-skilled assignments.
Education:
Completion of high school or equivalent is required.
Licenses:
Class C driver's license with a good driving record. The successful candidate must attain, within six months of employment, a valid Class B California driver's license and keep it in good standing
Highly Desirable:

HERE THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Community Services Department is responsible for managing and coordinating the work effort of three operating divisions: Maintenance, Solid Waste, and Motor Fleet. To deliver the high-quality services necessary to fulfill the needs of the City Council and the citizens, the department has an annual operating budget of $17.2 million and 38 full-time employees across all divisions. The Solid Waste Division is tasked with providing residential and commercial sanitation services, including trash, organic, and recycling collection. The Maintenance Division oversees all sewer, street, and sidewalk maintenance; public facilities maintenance; and maintenance of the City's parks and urban forest. Lastly, the Motor Fleet Division is responsible for maintaining the City's fleet and fueling stations. Community Services has an annual work plan that includes implementing applicable sustainability actions listed in the Sustainable City, and increasing sustainability efforts throughout City facilities and programs. Among other plans, Community Services is responsible for maintaining the landscape and facilities surrounding the iconic Claremont Village.
