A Maintenance Helper or Assistant assists maintenance mechanics. Repairs and maintains equipment and machines, such as cars or heating systems. May assemble or adjust machines as directed by a head mechanic.
Ensure all Idyllwild Community Center and ICC facilities are clean, well-maintained, and in good operating order, under the supervision of the Director of Programs and Recreation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General janitorial services for ICC facilities: Town Hall, Community Center, Community Playground, Skate Park, Dog Park, Pickleball Courts, and Butterfield Amphitheater.
Indoor maintenance:
sweeping, mopping, cleaning and re-stocking restrooms, etc.
Outdoor grounds maintenance:
raking/removing organic debris from all facilities, keeping outdoor areas neat and tidy, blowing off parking lots, ongoing trash removal, etc. Minor repair work and general maintenance projects on an "as-needed" basis. Promptly responding to requests for emergency repairs or clean-ups. Keep an inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies. Report any destruction, vandalism, or suspicious activity at any of the facilities to the Director of Programs and Recreation; safeguard all ICC facilities, property, and equipment. Must be able to have positive interactions with the public at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Effective communication skills. Able to work on weekends (hours and days are semi-flexible). Able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on a regular basis. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. Able to safely operate power tools and cleaning equipment. Must pass a criminal/fingerprint check (Live Scan).
