SECTOR "Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. This position is assigned to the Big Sur sector maintenance program and covers many of the Big Sur area state parks. The primary reporting location is Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park but the position may be required to work at other locations throughout the sector as assigned and based on operational need. This position will workk under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. This is an excellent entry level opportunity to get your foot in the door with California State Parks! If you are interested in starting a career with the Department or just looking to work outdoors, look no further. You will be joining an established maintenance team and have opportunities to perfect and learn new skills in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, carpentry, and operation of small equipment and tools. Primary responsibilities are housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, cleaning restrooms, trash pick-up, graffiti removal, sand removal, and litter pick-up. This is a uniformed position and the hired employee must abide by all applicable departmental uniform and grooming standards. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.) State housing may be required. •Special Requirement/Condition of Employment:
Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements after the state housing may be required as requested by HR.
