We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility team. The Maintenance Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of our facility to create a comfortable and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling a variety of maintenance tasks efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
General Maintenance:
Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, and general building upkeep. Perform basic carpentry, painting, and equipment repairs as needed.
Safety Compliance:
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including fire safety and infection control. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to maintain resident and staff safety.
Preventive Maintenance:
Support the execution of scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on facility equipment and systems. Monitor and maintain facility tools, equipment, and supplies.
Facility Upkeep:
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of common areas, including grounds, parking lots, and storage spaces. Remove trash, debris, and hazards from facility grounds.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and other staff members to ensure facility needs are met. Coordinate with vendors and contractors when necessary.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Report issues, completed tasks, and supply needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in maintenance, repair, or related fields is preferred, particularly in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform repetitive tasks. Willingness to be on-call for emergency maintenance as needed. Understanding of safety and infection control practices in a healthcare setting is a plus.
Work Environment:
This role involves physical labor and the ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. Must be comfortable working in a healthcare environment, including interaction with residents, visitors, and staff.
