Full Job Description Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Specialist I to join our dynamic facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that all students, staff, and the community are provided a safe, attractive and clean, and healthy environment for learning and work.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and mechanical equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure safety compliance. Repair electrical equipment using schematics, wiring diagrams, and testing tools such as ohmmeters. Conduct HVAC system repairs, including troubleshooting thermostats, filters, compressors, and ductwork to maintain climate control. Utilize hand tools and power tools for carpentry, painting, plumbing repairs, and facilities maintenance tasks. Read and interpret technical schematics and mechanical drawings to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs. Supervise or assist with maintenance painting projects and interior building upkeep to enhance the facility's appearance. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and repair logs following proper procedures for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO). Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff or tenants and ensuring minimal disruption.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma required. Associate's degree preferred. Vocational coursework or training in facility maintenance, building systems, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, custodial operations, or related trades is preferred but not required. At least two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, custodial services, facility operations, or a related role—preferably in a school, multi-site organization, public agency, or commercial facility setting required. Experience performing basic repairs, routine maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks is preferred. This position requires regular travel between sites. A valid driver's license, personal automobile, and proof of insurance required. Please ensure the following documents are attached to your application. Pay:
$24.31 - $32.58 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
